I can’t wait to see Moving in the Spirit, a company of spirited young dancers that I’ve watched for several decades as it has evolved and expanded its range of influence and artistic excellence. If you are in Chattanooga, or anywhere near, please come and see these powerful young people perform works by well known choreographers. The company has always had a strong focus on preparing students for real world engagement and career readiness through the discipline required by working in a group toward a common goal and by the rigor of dance training itself. Dana Lupton and Leah Mann (Dana’s founding partner, now in Seattle, I believe) have been supported over the years by a loyal community of friends, family, dance advocates, and social activists. Please join us at Barking Legs Theater to see what they have created on Sunday, June 15th, at 7:00 p.m. The company will also lead a workshop in Conflict Resolution at 4:30 p.m. at the theater for anyone interested. It is an opportunity to see what young artists who are empowered by caring adults and each other can do.
