Registration has closed for the 2015-2016 program year.
Moving in the Spirit provides a safe, nurturing environment in which young people can study the art of dance, make friends and develop leadership skills.
Our curriculum focuses primarily on modern dance and incorporates ballet technique, creative movement and the creation of original choreography. We accept students ages 3-18, beginner to advanced. Need-based scholarships are available. Classes for the 2015-2016 school year classes begin after Labor Day on Tuesday, September 8.
Moving in the Spirit’s unique mission is to create compassionate leaders through the art of dance. We realize this mission by linking our class structure and goals directly with the Positive Youth Development Model, designed to transition children successfully into adulthood. Students are given a voice in class activities and choreography, set personal goals, problem-solve with their peers and practice leadership skills. Over time, students flourish and expand their leadership in the organization. On average, they remain with Moving in the Spirit for 6 to 8 years.
Girls should wear black footless tights or leggings and a black leotard. Boys should wear a black sports shirt and black pants or shorts.
