Acacia Irving, 10, 4th grade

What does it mean to lead?

To me it means to teach other girls, pull them to the side and say “hey, you’re doing this wrong, let me teach you,” showing them how to be a leader, telling them what to do, speaking up clearly.

What can you do to lead our world?

At school, if someone needs help on their work, I ask the teacher if I can help them, and then I teach them how to do it or I show them. Here, I lead our world by making sure I get the movement right so that I can show another person how to do it and it can keep on going.

What do you think of when you hear “GLOW in Motion?”

It means that girls can do anything no matter if anybody puts us down, girls can be leaders, not just boys. Girls can be strong and they can be leaders.

What piece in the show makes you feel the most like a leader?

World’s Greatest first of all because I love the song and also because I feel like I can be the greatest no matter what.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned from being in GLOW in Motion?

Well, one of my leaders in GLOW left, so I learned that if your leader leaves, you become a leader, and the person who thought you were a leader becomes a leader. Everybody can be a leader. I also learned that we can always be one, like a family.

See how Acacia is a leader through her dancing on Friday, March 11!
