Rosie Mandeville, 12, 7th grade

What does it mean to lead?

To me it means to guide other people and help them become as good as they need to be. If you are better at something, it means to help someone else be that good and not to keep it to yourself.

What can you do to lead our world?

You can help someone who’s struggling or you can just tell other people how to lead. You can set a good example, like if there’s something going on that you shouldn’t be doing, then you wouldn’t participate.

What do you think of when you hear “GLOW in Motion?”

I think of a large group of girls who are working together to create an environment where people can trust each other and work together in unison in order to make a beautiful dance.

What piece in the show makes you feel the most like a leader?

World’s Greatest because I feel really confident in that dance because I’ve been doing it for three years. I really like the message of the song and it’s fun to see all of the variations in the choreography, since it changes every year.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned from being in GLOW in Motion?

I’ve learned that people aren’t always how they seem when you first meet them and that once you get to know them, they change a lot, once they feel comfortable in the environment. At first, you may think they’re a super shy person or they’ll act one way when you first meet them, but if you spend the time to actually get to know them while they’re not confident, they’ll change.
