Moving in the Spirit Celebrates New Home at MARTA’s Edgewood/Candler Park Station

Join Moving in the Spirit on October 23 & 24, 2021 as we celebrate our new arts and youth development center at MARTA’s Edgewood/Candler Park station.

Our long-awaited new home will serve as a beacon of hope and a destination for dance, uniting young people across our city to create together, lift their voices, and soar as leaders.

We can’t wait to welcome you!

Saturday, October 23, 2021: Community Celebration, 11 AM – 4 PM

Hosted by WSB-TV’s Condace Pressley

11 AM: Community Dance & Live Drumming

Moving in the Spirit will lead attendees through a communal dance, accompanied by live drummers, to bless Moving in the Spirit’s new home.  Steps are simple (no dance experience required!) and anyone of any age and ability can join in at any time. Dance together with loved ones, neighbors and friends as we offer hope and unity!

12 PM: Ribbon Uniting Ceremony

Instead of cutting ribbons, we unite them! Partners and community members will weave a spectacular dance for the future of our young people, culminating in performances by Moving in the Spirit students and alumni.

1 PM – 4 PM: Performances, Food Carts, Tours* & More!

Enjoy a live DJ, tasty treats, and family activities sponsored by our community partners throughout the day. Additional performances will be held on our outdoor stage at 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, and 3:30 PM.

Events will be held outdoors in our community greenspace to encourage social distancing. As a precaution against COVID-19, guests must wear a mask when not eating or drinking.

*Tours: Due to the ongoing pandemic, timed tours of our new facility will be conducted in small groups and limited in number. Guests must sign up for a tour prior to the event by 10/22. If your preferred tour timeslot is full, sign up for our waitlist. We will contact you if a slot becomes available, or reach out with additional tour options later this fall.
