Dance Classes & Leadership Training for Ages 3-18
Moving in the Spirit provides a safe, nurturing environment in which young people can study the art of dance, make friends and develop leadership skills.
Register NowOur curriculum is based in modern dance and creative movement, with opportunities to study ballet, hip hop, jazz, and West African dance. We accept students ages 3-18, boys and girls, beginner to advanced. Need-based financial aid is available. Moving in the Spirit’s classes for the 2019-2020 program year begin on Monday, September 9.
Moving in the Spirit’s unique mission is to help young people develop the social, emotional and cognitive skills they need to thrive, using the art of dance. We realize this mission by integrating youth development best practices in our class structure, which is designed to transition children successfully into adulthood. Students are given a voice in class activities and choreography, set personal goals, problem-solve with their peers and practice leadership skills. Over time, students flourish and expand their leadership in the organization. On average, they remain with Moving in the Spirit for 7 years.
